Family Time Friday

I’ve talked before about growing up Latter-Day Saint and how the church really emphasizes family time. In fact Mondays are set aside by the church as time to spend together as a family. No meetings or anything are scheduled on Mondays so as to not interfere with this. As the kids have gotten older Steven and I really want to enjoy more family time during the week. We get to spend quite a bit of time together on the weekends but our weeks are crazy busy! And outside of dinner time it feels like we can go days without spending any meaningful time together. Last week Brianna asked if we could play some family games after dinner. We looked at each other and said “You know what…that’s a great idea!” So we played Headbandz and Apples to Apples JR. It was a lot of fun! And we realized we really need to make sure we are taking time each week for some family fun.

We have a lot going on in our country right now. There is a lot of stress and a lot of tension and a lot of blame going around. And if you are like us the TV has been tuned a little too much to CNN. But Wednesday evening we turned off the news and turned on

Steven came home from Boy Scouts with Jonah on Tuesday and had bought the DVD for the kids. They were running a sale at our Kroger that you might want to check out too. Buy the DVD and get a box of microwavable popcorn and 2 boxes of movie theater style candy for free! Not a bad deal and a nice treat for the kids. Candy is not something we keep in the house regularly.

This movie is adorable! It is one of those perfect movies that both kids and adults will love! And it’s funny, and not just in an adult humor way like movies like Shrek. It is really genuinely funny! We really enjoyed our family time together watching this great movie! It was the perfect way to step back from some of the chaos in our Nation’s Capital right now and take a breather. I highly recommend everyone find some time to do that this weekend! We could all use a break from the crazy!

Just in case you’ve been living in a cave (get it?!!? The Croods are cavemen!! Ok…moving on!!) here is a trailer for the movie.

I hope you find some time this weekend to enjoy some quality time together as a family! We plan on making some more memories this weekend with a company picnic on Saturday and a Baptism on Sunday. Woot-woot!! Have a great one!
